Dish for butter making

Butter making was a common household task carried out by women in rural Ireland, and this dish was used as part of the butter making process. It came from Murty Browne’s pub in Tullycrine, County Clare where it had been used by Mary Browne, the donor’s aunt, by way of the donor’s brother Jimmy. It is made of wood and on the underside it has the word ‘butter’ written on it. The donor, Matthew Bermingham, originally came from Kilrush, County Clare
