This is the history of the descendants of Murdoch Ferguson and Anne McAskill
Isle of Skye, Scotland and Patrick Melville and Arabella Cullinan from
County Clare. Patrick Melville from Dysert area near Kilrush emigrated
to Australia with his wife Arabella Cullinan from Ennis. They arrived
at Geelong, Victoria in October 1838 aboard the ship ‘Calcutta’
and settled in Geelong where Patrick established a quarrying business.
Both families were later to intermarry. Their story is related here by
their great grandson Glenn Robertson.
