Laurence/Larry Keane
Laurence/Larry Keane was born between 1810 and 1819 in Clare, Ireland (Date and place of birth calculated from information recorded on 1901 Census and age recorded on death certificate).

He married Catherine/Kate Keane in Ireland.

There were two men named Laurence Keane recorded in the Griffith's Valuation of Tenements, printed 1855, as holding leases in the Parish of Drumcreehy, Union of Ballyvaughan, County Clare; one in the Townland of Muckinish East and one in the Townland of Muckinish West. It is believed that the Laurence Keane living in Muckinish East is the father of Bridget, Mary and Patrick; this is based on detailed examination of all the available records, including land records, the 1901 Census, the death certificates of Laurence and Kate and the marriage certificate of Mary Ann Keane and John Joseph Leyden/Lydon.

The Laurence Keane listed in Muckinish East in the printed Griffith's Valuation of Tenements was recorded as leasing the following allotments from William Ryan in Muckinish East;
Garden of 16 perches, Land of 1 acre and 30 perches, House, office and garden of 30 perches.

Larry was recorded on the census of 1901 at Muckinish East, he was recorded as;
Head of Family, Cannot read, Age - 82, Male, Farmer, Widower, Born - County of Clare, Language - Irish-English (Clare County Library, 1901 Census of Population of County Clare, Townland of Muckinish East).

Laurence died on 19 Sep 1910 at the Ballyvaughan Workhouse, Clare, Ireland, the certified cause of death was old age, his age was recorded as 100, and his occupation was recorded as Labourer (Copy of Death Certificate No 471, provided by Judy Smith, email dated 3 Dec 2008).

Catherine/Kate Keane
Catherine/Kate Keane. Her married name was Keane. She was born circa 1819 in Ireland (Date of birth calculated from age at death).

Kate died on 19 May 1899, of old age, at the age of 80, at Muckinish, District of Ballyvaughan, Clare, Ireland, it is recorded on the certificate that Kate was the wife of a Labourer and her husband Laurence was present at her death (Copy of Death Certificate No 297 provided by Judy Smith, email dated 27 Jan 2009).
