Some members of the
Clare
Past Forum have initiated a project which seeks to list people
who have emigrated from County Clare and who passed through the
emigration station on Ellis Island, New York between 1892 and
1924, using free and publicly available data provided online by
the
Statue of
Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. The project will be managed
by Paddy Casey, a member of the forum, in association with Clare
County Library staff.
Search tips have been provided by Clare Past
Forum member Tom McDowell (
Search Tips).
Transcribers can download a
template for transcribing
and mail it in to
clare.emigrants@gmail.com
following completion.
It is intended that volunteers will undertake
to search for all emigrants from a particular
parish.
A table showing who has agreed to transcribe which parish is shown
on the left.
Anyone who is interested in participating should
register their interest in transcribing a particular parish (if
they have not already done so) by emailing
clare.emigrants@gmail.com. You will then be contacted by the
project manager. Please indicate preferred parish.
