National School Roll Books (Girls) (1889-1922) |
Lacken National
School was located in Lacken
Townland, east of Kilmihil village. The first school opened in 1846
in a house owned by Sonny Meaney. This was replaced in 1896 by a purpose-built
school. The school served a catchment area that included Lacken, Kilmihil
Village, Cahercanivane, Lack East, Knockalough and Ballydinneen. The school
closed in 1995 and was replaced by a new school in Kilmihil Village. The
Lacken school roll books and other school records were donated to Clare
County Library by Carmel Coughlan, Principal, Kilmihil National School
and are now in Clare County
Archives. The registers were transcribed by Brian Doyle and Peter
Beirne of the Local
Studies Centre. |
