The Evolution of the Diocese of Killaloe

Major changes in the structure of the Irish Church took place in the twelfth century aimed at bringing it into line with general European practice. This article gives a background to the changes which occured in the Diocese of Killaloe, in particular the evolution of the parish system. An ecclesiastical taxation list for the Diocese of Killaloe for the years 1302-05 is included.
