The Evolution
of the Diocese of Killaloe By Michael Mac Mahon |
Major changes in the structure of the Irish Church took place in the twelfth century aimed at bringing it into line with general European practice. This article gives a background to the changes which occured in the Diocese of Killaloe, in particular the evolution of the parish system. An ecclesiastical taxation list for the Diocese of Killaloe for the years 1302-05 is included. This article first appeared in 2021 issue of ‘The
Other Clare' (no.45).
