Clare History: Deaths and Staff in Kilrush and Ennistymon Workhouses 1850-51

A return of the deaths in both workhouses, their hospitals, infirmaries and auxiliary workhouses from 25 March 1850 until 25 March 1851;

A copy of the dietary sanctioned for each workhouse;

Copies of correspondence between the Poor Law Commissioners and Inspectors and the Guardians of Kilrush and Ennistymon Poor Law Unions with reference to mortality within the workhouses;

A return of details of each officer and servant employed in both workhouses.

The returns of the deaths and staff in both workhouses are given here. The return of deaths contains details of over 3,000 people and is especially valuable as none of the admissions registers for any of the County Clare workhouses have survived. The returns for the Ennistymon Union workhouse and its auxiliaries were given separately. Those for the Kilrush workhouse and its auxiliaries were combined in one table. We give the returns here, arranged alphabetically by surname, and also give both workhouse returns in a single table (All Deaths).
