Parish of Kilnaboy (e) |
There is a large Cahir called Cahir More within a
few yards of the Cross, thirty six yards in diameter, built of a very
large well shaped stones, the walls in some places seven feet high on
the outside having a considerable batter or taper, and eight feet thick
at the top (at height of seven feet). The ground inside is considerably
over the level of the field, and there is a very narrow opening near
the south side within, which leads to some subterranean chambers, inaccessible
on account of the narrowness of the passage. They have no tradition about
it. |
