The online Ordnance Survey 1842 maps make use of thousands
of tiled images whose file sizes are necessarily quite large. As some
windows may require four such tiles to be downloaded at any one time,
you will ideally need to have broadband access to the Internet.
If you do
not have broadband access, or in any case wish
to have speedier access, please send us a self-addressed envelope,
containing a blank CD (CD-R). We will then send
you a CD with the tiled maps, and instructions for using them with this
'semi-offline'
application. Send

The semi-offline offline pack consists
of
a CD containing
the Ordnance Survey map tiles ,
the latest SVG plugin (SVGView.exe),
a file named '123mapswithme.htm', and
a text file named 'Read Me First'.
Insert the CD, and wait for a menu to
appear.
By following the instructions contained within the 'Read Me First'
file, users can either work from the CD, or copy it to their hard-disk
and
work from that.
If you wish to run this application from the CD:
(Note: the CD will always have to be in the CD drive for the application
to work)

install the plugin on your PC ((Windows 98-XP). You will only need
to install the plugin
once.
2. Connect to the Internet
3. Click the button "Run maps from CD

system files are located on the library's server, enabling the library
to develop
and update them at will. |
