The settlement of Sixmilebridge
was spread across three townlands:
- Sixmilebridge, in the parish of
Kilfinaghta
- Mount Ievers, in the parish of Kilfintenan
- Ballyliddane, in the parish of Kilfintenan
The principal part of
the village was sited on the townland of Sixmilebridge.

1. Sixmilebridge
Proprietor Sir Lucius
O'Brien, Dromoland, Newmarket. Agent Robert
O'Brien Esq. Limerick. Let to 56 tenants, who all have leases of years
and lives, at the yearly rent of from 40s. to 60s. per acre. County cess
from 3s. to 4s. per acre yearly. Tithe 10d. to 12d. per acre. Soil loamy,
heavy clay. Size of farm from 1 rood to 3 acres. Usual crop wheat, oats,
potatoes and vegetables. Fuel scarce. Prevailing names Gormans. Two schools
containing 196 boys and 80 girls, all Roman Catholic. One paid by the
scholars, the other by the Board of Education. Schoolhouse built in 1809
by Mr. Clune P.P. Chapel slated, built in 1812, can contain 600 persons.
Church built 1812 (recte, circa 1752) can contain 200 persons. Sessions'
house built in 1820. A police barracks, a sergeant and 7 sub constables.
Fair held on the 5 December. No market, no weighing crane here. Milk sold
daily. A post office in this town, a daily post, no post car runs from
here. The bridge over the river O Garney in the centre of the town, battlements
6 foot in height from road. The river O Garney waters this townland north
and east, contains salmon, pike, trout and eels. 125 houses.
2. Mount Ievers

Esq. Sixmilebridge. Agent none. Let to 42 tenants whom have leases of
years and lives. Yearly rent from £2 to £3 per acre... Size
of farm from one half to 18 acres... Prevailing names Brenans... Paper
Mills of Brenan and Company, no paper but lapping manufactured in it.
Mansion house of the proprietor in the east of Sixmilebridge, built a
hundred years since. 35 houses.
Mount Ievers House: the residence of
William Ievers, agent to James A. Ievers Esq. proprietor. It is 4 storeys
high in bad repair, the offices are in a state of dilapidation, an orchard
and garden badly kept.
3. Ballyliddane

Esq. Agent none. Let to 8 occupying tenants who have leases of years.
Rent from 20s. to 30s. per acre yearly... Size of farm from 1 to 14 acres...
Prevailing names Kinvanes. A Roman Catholic chapel, which could contain
about 200 persons, built about 60 years ago, thatched. A school, paid
by the scholars of 40 boys and 20 girls all Roman Catholics, established
in 1836. Burying lands at Kilavoher for children. Contains ruin of market
house of Sixmilebridge. 20 houses.
