A
Quarter of a Century of Book Borrowing
Clare
Champion, 21st April 2006
A
look at the library statistics over the last 25 years shows an increase
of 40% in the number of books being borrowed now than in 1980. A remarkable
statistic when one considers the number of distractions now compared to
1980. We now have multichannel, sports channels, dvd's, playstations,
increased foreign travel ipods, mp3, videos, personal computers, broadband,
etc.
Over
11 million books have been issued in the various branch libraries throughout
the county and the following list outlines the figures for each individual
branch.
