Kilrush Public Library, Ennis
Exhibition: Papers of Commandant Joseph Barrett

This exhibition looks at the Joseph Barrett archive which was found in Kilrush in 2019. Joseph Barrett (1888-1971) served as Commandant of the Mid Clare Brigade and Dr. Paul O’Brien of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick has exhibited some of the archive’s highlights. Barney Goose’s Wild Atlantic Way Scéal Trail
Outdoor event at Shannon Library.

A Scéal Trail or story walk is a picture-book exhibition placed in outdoor spaces. It is a new way to share in the joy of reading with family and friends.
Follow Barney Goose as he goes on a Wild Atlantic Way Adventure to look for his family.
Read the story as you walk along the trail. Children can enjoy the colourful illustrations and words by Carol Ann Treacy while they explore themes of migration and life-cycles as well as learning about the geography and landmarks of the West of Ireland. Supported by Creative Ireland.

Ashwin Chacko is a seriously playful connector, bringing people together through positive story telling with illustration and design. Championing creativity to shape culture through talks, books, videos and workshops. Most recently he illustrated the Children's Books Ireland Free to Be Me reading guide.
Join Ashwin for this fun interactive workshop where he will read from his children's book What Wondrous Shapes we Are and show you how to draw some wondrous characters.

Irish Sign Language, 8 week basic course: Lesson 7 - A Healthy Ireland at your Library event.
Online event 6pm – 7pm

Irish Sign Language (ISL) is Ireland's third official language and is estimated to be used by as many as 45,000 people on a regular basis. Our 8-week ISL Basic course is taught by fully qualified ISL teachers and will give you a foundation to the language. The lessons will focus on your understanding of ISL as well as your ability to sign basic vocabulary and sentences, and there will be a certificate of attendance issued by the Irish Deaf Society upon successful completion of the course.
Free event for people throughout Co Clare aged 18+. Places are limited, booking is essential.

Eoin McLaughlin is an Irish children's author. His bestselling picture books The Hug and While We Can't Hug were nominated for the An Post Irish Book Awards and the Kate Greenaway Medal. Eoin's very proud that While We Can't Hug has been very widely used to help children understand social distancing. He has written several other picture books and always enjoys making children laugh. Originally from New Ross, Eoin now lives in the UK.

Fontane the Bear and His Christmas Adventure
Online event, via zoom 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Fontane the Bear is back! Fontane first appeared at Clare Cruinniu na nÓg 2021 with Jacinta Sheerin and Aindrais Stack. Now he's back with another adventure.
Join Jacinta and Aindrais as they tell the story of Fontane the Bear who goes on a Christmasadventure. You will meet lots of different characters along the way. Some of them are naughty and some of them are nice but he must make it home before Santa gets to his house. We have to help him get there.
All participants are invited to wear or bring something red and sparkly. You also may very well beasked to sing and dance so bring your mischief and merriment! It's going to be a cracker!
