The Grand Jury presentment books include
information on public utilities within the county, including jails and
bridewells,
courthouses
and sessions
houses, piers and harbours
and the county infirmary.
The high sheriffs are noted, as well as baronial cess payers, and the
county surveyor’s report was presented to the Grand Jury.
Presentments, the grant of funding for the construction or repair of
roads and other public infrastructure, are arranged by barony with the
names of the local contractors recorded.
