Award Winning Books for Children


In keeping with Clare County Library's policy of promoting reading among our young members, this latest promotion entitled, Award Winning Books for Children has been developed as an in-house project.

The awards featured in this promotion are:

Bisto Book of the Year Award
Eilis Dillon Award
Carnegie Medal
Kate Greenaway Medal
The Nestle Children's Book Prize

Five major awards feature in this promotion ensuring that children of all ages will find an award winning book to read.

With a total of sixty three titles, young readers can choose from books which are as diverse in suitability and content as the delightful picture book, The Baby Who Wouldn't Go To Bed by Helen Cooper or the teenage book, Junk by Melvin Burgess. This book mirrors the reality of teenage life with startling accuracy. Burgess is " a writer of the highest quality with exceptional powers of insight." - The Sunday Times.

All library branches will stock this promotion in turn, for a three month period making it accessible to children and teenage readers throughout the whole county.
