Merry Christmas Splat by Rob Scotton
Published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, 2009

Merry Christmas Splat echoes every little child’s most dreaded fear at this time of year…what if Santa doesn’t come?

Splat the loveable but mischievous cat goes overboard to ensure that he will receive a really big present, he even draws a picture of how it should look on his letter to Santa.

On Christmas Eve he washes the dishes even though they’re already clean, he decorates the Christmas tree even though it’s already decorated and clears the snow from the path and his busy Mum is powerless to stop his unwanted help.

This exhausted little cat (because we all know that being good is very tiring), tucks himself up in bed to see Santa when he delivers his really big present.

As night passes and Christmas morning shines through Splat’s window he realises he hasn’t seen Santa and wonders if he left it too late to start being good.

Readers young and old are treated to a delightful ending to this beautiful picture book. The illustrations are exquisitely drawn and add to the excitement and mischief on every page.
