The Great Paper Caper by Oliver Jeffers
Published by HarperCollins Children’s Books, 2008

In The Great Paper Caper the very serious crisis of tree cutting in the forest is presented through the eyes of its adorable inhabitants, cleverly crafted in Jeffers’ unique art style.

The culprit is discovered in a very orderly, step by step process, culminating in the bear confessing everything in court. But this bear has a valid reason for cutting down tree branches and when his mission is explained to everyone, it becomes a community effort of good will that will no longer endanger the forest but instead will guarantee its protection.

Oliver Jeffers is universally known as the master of the Picture Book format and a look at any of his books to date will leave the reader in no doubt as to why. The Great Paper Caper is his fifth book. The previous four, How to Catch a Star, Lost and Found, The Way Back Home and The Incredible Book Eating Boy are all well recognised favourites and award winners in the world of children’s picture books.

The Great Paper Caper is shortlisted for the 2009 Bisto Book of the Year Award.
