Fortunately, the Milk …. by Neil Gaiman
Bloomsbury Childrens 2013

Fortunately, the Milk … is a crazy mad-cap adventure story for readers 7 and over from multi-award winning author, Neil Gaiman. His latest offering for younger readers has a lot going on featuring mainly dinosaurs and an unusual Dad.

But maybe Dad’s not that unusual at all. Bet you can all identify with a Dad who gets side-tracked when Mum’s away, even if she has left a set of clear instructions for him.

In the middle of a long list of things to do is the most important instruction; DON’T FORGET THE MILK which is of course what Dad forgets to do. Only it’s not as simple as setting off to the corner shop to get it. Why does it take Dad a very, very long time to get back?

Quirky characters and weird events will have children and without a doubt, adults too, in stitches as a blundering Dad tries to convey his quest for a litre of milk, taking on talking dinosaurs, pirates, an angry volcano God and wumpires! to two very sceptical children.

Brilliant illustrations by Chris Riddell, that you will have to stop yourself from colouring in, are an added bonus.
