The Double Life of Cassiel Roadnight by Jenny Valentine
Published by HarperCollins 2010

You’re always guaranteed a story with a twist from Jenny Valentine and The Double Life of Cassiel Roadnight is no exception.

Chap Hathaway assumes the identity of a missing 16 year old boy and in so doing finds himself a loving family into which he fits perfectly. But all is not as perfect as it seems. In posing as Cassiel Roadnight, Chap discovers there’s a lot more going on than he first thought. He unearths a series of shattering revelations as well as discovering who he really is.

In her typical first person narrative Jenny Valentine is at one with the reader from the very first page of the book. You will feel that you are Chap, on tenterhooks that the real Cassiel will return at any time. The tension created by his fear that he will be un-masked is palpable throughout this page-turning thriller. You the reader will only progress as fast or a slowly as the main character keeping you just as close to the edge as he is.

Short chapters and a tense storyline will appeal to teenage readers as will the witty tone and well-rounded characterisation that they have come to expect from this talented writer.
