Captain
Corelli's Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres
Published by Secker & Warburg, 1994
This
incredible novel by Louis De Bernieres set on the idyllic Greek
island of Cephallonia follows the lives of Dr. Iannis and his beautiful
daughter Pelagia from the peaceful days before World War 2 through
the Italian occupation of the island to the present day. Corelli's
Mandolin works very well as a love story, a war story and the madness
it brings with it. Well worth persevering to the end. A very enjoyable
and humourous read.
