Defying
Age by Dr. Miriam Stoppard
Published by Dorling Kindersley Ltd., London, 2003
Dr. Miriam Stoppard
is a well known doctor, writer and broadcaster. Her work centres
on family health generally. This time she tackles the subject of
ageing and how to maintain an age defying lifestyle. This a virtual
A to Z guide on how to fend off the ageing process and how to continue
to enjoy life well into a ripe old age.
The book is
written in a clear and simple style that is easy to read and to
follow. There are ten chapters devoted to ten different subjects
– alternative medicines, fat, diet, exercise, sex, relaxation
and beauty treatments are just some of the issues dealt with in
a straightforward and sensible fashion. She examines the pros and
cons of treatments such as Botox, HRT, Viagra and complementary
medicines and presents the scientific view where research has been
undertaken on the effects of these substances.
This
is a useful book not only for those who are over the age of ‘21
plus VAT’, but also for couch potato 30 year olds so they
can start on the road to becoming rip-roaring centenarians.
