This
is the second in The Invisible Detective series and was enjoyed
more than Book 1 by children in the club.
A number
of strange mysteries are taking place in 1930s London – a
large number of cats are found dead – ripped to pieces, the
bank has been raided from the sewers and the rats are fleeingat
an alarming rate.
It
falls to the Invisible Detective to solve this mystery which has
a surprising link to Arthur Drake in London of the present day.
Kilmihil
book club members found this story more exciting than Book 1 and
also easier to understand. Some felt the book was more of an introduction
to the characters from the 1930s and from the present day story
and that overall it was a more exciting read than Book 1.
However
children again experienced difficulty moving from the past to the
present again as in Book 1, finding it took time to understand the
two different storylines that ran in the book.
