Some
children found that the story was slow to start but having read
it everyone agreed it was a good story.
Safe Harbour tells the story of the young lives of Sophie and Hugh
during the Second World War. After their mother is injured they
are evacuated to Ireland to live with their grandfather, who they
hardly even know.
Living with their grandfather provides the answers to questions
Sophie could never ask of her parents but which nevertheless always
played on her mind. Questions such as why Grandfather was never
spoken about in her family home in England.
Various incidents in the children's daily lives provide them with
a greater understanding of their grandfather.
