This is a wonderful collection of poems from some
of Ireland’s best known poets.
The poems are written for children but can be enjoyed by anyone
from nine months to ninety.
The illustrations and use of colour in every page makes it a book
that anyone, young or old would enjoy dipping into every now and
again.
The
children really enjoyed this book and each of them had four or five
favourites. Some of the favourite poems were ‘Neighbourhood
Watch’ by Anne Le Marquand Hartigan , ‘Txt u l8r’
by Aislinn O’ Loughlin , ‘Sad’ by Larry O’
Loughlin, ‘Sa Bhaile’ by Una Leavy, ‘What are
we doing yesterday, Granda?’ by Maire Mac an tSaoi, ‘Oidhreacht’
by Aine Ní Ghlinn and ‘Belly Buttons’ by Gabriel
Fitzmaurice.
The translations of the Irish poems at the back
of the book and the poets’ biographies were of interest to
the children also.
