Winning Book Reviews 2000
During the months of March and April
2000, Clare County Library in association with the National Reading Initiative
held a book review competition for children and teenage members
of all its branches. Readers were invited to review a book of their choice
from collections of senior and teenage fiction in their local library.
Entries were divided into two
categories:
Category 1: 5th, 6th and 7th class at Primary School
Category 2: 1st, 2nd and 3rd year pupils at Post Primary
School
Response to the competition was excellent
with over three hundred entries received for judging by adjudicators Cora
Harrison and Eddie Lenihan.
Prizes were presented in the de Valera
Library, Ennis on 17th April 2000, prior to a talk on the importance of
reading for children by Robert Dunbar, one of Ireland's experts in children's
literature.
