Book Promotions for Children |

Reading historical fiction is an excellent way for young people to find out about the past. This collection of books specifically chosen for children and teenagers will introduce them to and immerse them in one of one of the most important events to ever happen in our country’s history, the Easter Rising of 1916. |

A Clare County Library Children’s Book Promotion featuring The Bisto Children’s Book of the Year Awards 2001 to 2010. The last decade has seen a host of excellent books suited to young readers from tots to teens receive the Bisto and its sister award the Eilis Dillon Award in Ireland. The Bisto Book of the Year Award was introduced
by Children’s Books Ireland to recognise talent in the field of
children’s literature by Irish authors, or authors living in Ireland. |

![]() This reading promotion is important for young people, particularly for those children who are beginning to read on their own. It is aimed at children who are beginning to read on their own as well as the more confident readers. The stories selected include some classics, a selection of short novels, featuring fewer illustrations and longer sentences for the more confident reader and a range of what are often described as “chapter” books. |

In this promotion Clare County Library presents fifty books with the hope of providing both young and old readers with an insight into the beliefs and ways of life in many different countries. |

![]() In keeping with Clare County Library's policy of promoting reading among our young members this promotion was developed as an in-house project. Five major awards feature in this promotion ensuring that children of all ages will find an award winning book to read. With a total of sixty three titles, young readers can choose from books which are as diverse in suitability and content as the delightful picture book, The Baby Who Wouldn't Go To Bed by Helen Cooper or the teenage book, Junk by Melvin Burgess. This book mirrors the reality of teenage life with startling accuracy. Burgess is " a writer of the highest quality with exceptional powers of insight." - The Sunday Times. The awards featured in this promotion are: Bisto Book of the Year Award, Eilis Dillon Award, Carnegie Medal, Kate Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Book Prize. |
