Various McInerney Pedigrees
These various pedigrees are of the McInerney (Mac an Oirchinnigh) clan of Thomond. The pedigrees broadly agree with the genealogical descent of the family from the original progenitor Donnchadha Mac Con Mara who was the airchinneach (erenagh). The earlist pedigree was drawn in c1588 and may have been done to support the claims of the senior branch of the family to control over the clan lands of Ballykilty, Ballysallagh and Carrigoran nearby modern-day Newmarket-on-Fergus in Co Clare. These pedigrees are from Robert William Twigge's MS 39259-39270, which are held in the British Library. “Materials for a History of Clann-Cuilein (the eastern division of county Clare): historical, topographical and genealogical collections relating to Clann Chuiléin, ‘Macnamara's Country’, in East Clare.” |
